It was the Month of August & My Journey begins from Delhi to Bangalore by a 3 hours flight :) After an overnight stay in the city I took a A Class Mercedes by Zoom Car :) I started 6 AM in the morning & enjoyed a speedy ride on National Highway 48 i.e. Bangalore- Mangalore National Highway. Road was awesome so I reached just in 2 hours to my destination.
Shravanabelagola (Bahubali Ji) which is located near Channarayapatna of Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka and is 180 km from the city of Bangalore.
The 58-feet tall monolithic statue of Gommateshvara is located on Vindyagiri Hill. It is considered to be the world's largest monolithic stone statue (also named in 7 wonders of India).
Every twelve years, thousands of devotees congregate here to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka, a spectacular ceremony in which the statue is covered with milk, curds, ghee, saffron and gold coins. The next Mahamastakabhisheka will now be held in 2018.
